Subject: Complaint – Interference with Freedom of Thought, Autonomy, and Psychological Integrity Arising from Early Doctrinal Imposition

1. Overview

I lodge this complaint on the basis that I have experienced long-term interference with my autonomy, freedom of thought, and psychological integrity arising from early childhood exposure to coercive doctrinal constructs.

These influences were introduced at a stage of development where I was unable to provide informed consent, and they have continued to exert an effect on my internal cognitive and emotional framework despite my explicit and sustained rejection of those beliefs from approximately four to six years of age onward.

2. Relevant Legal Framework

This complaint engages rights protected under the:

Human Rights Act 2019 (Queensland)

International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights

United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child

In particular:

the right to freedom of thought, conscience, and belief

the right not to be subject to coercion impairing that freedom

the right of the child to develop independently and be protected from mental harm

3. Nature of the Complaint

The complaint does not concern the existence of religious belief systems per se. Rather, it concerns the manner in which such systems were introduced and embedded during early childhood in a way that:

incorporated fear-based mechanisms (e.g. punishment, exclusion, existential threat)

established a form of internalised surveillance (perception of being observed at the level of thought)

positioned authority figures as intermediaries with elevated and largely unquestionable control

limited my capacity, as a child, to meaningfully reject or disengage

These elements are consistent with recognised patterns of coercive control.

4. Impact

The effects of this early exposure have not been confined to childhood. They have persisted as underlying cognitive and emotional structures that:

influenced perception and internal responses independently of conscious belief

constrained my sense of autonomy and internal privacy

contributed to long-term psychological impact requiring ongoing reflection and management

This constitutes a form of enduring interference with personal autonomy and psychological integrity.

5. Basis of Human Rights Concern

It is my position that:

early imposition of totalising doctrinal frameworks, where combined with fear and authority structures, may constitute coercion within the meaning of Article 18(2) of the ICCPR

where such imposition occurs during childhood, it engages protections under the Convention on the Rights of the Child relating to mental harm and independent development

the persistence of these effects beyond belief indicates that the issue is not one of voluntary religious adherence, but of structural psychological impact

6. Requested Outcomes

I seek:

Recognition that the described mechanisms are capable of constituting coercive interference with freedom of thought, particularly in childhood contexts

Assessment of whether existing protections adequately address such forms of psychological influence where they arise under the protection of religious freedom

Guidance on appropriate avenues for redress, including whether mechanisms exist for:

acknowledgement of harm

correction of any related institutional narratives or records protection from ongoing or repeated exposure in institutional settings

Consideration of whether broader systemic review is required in relation to the intersection between religious freedom and protection from coercion, particularly for children

7. Statement

This complaint is made in good faith and is based on my lived experience and subsequent analysis of its long-term effects. It is not intended to challenge individual belief, but to address the conditions under which belief systems may be imposed in ways that are inconsistent with fundamental human rights.

Current world population is 8 billion - 0.6% = 48 million alive today who are likely to have been raped by Catholics globally.

The church protected the perpetrators, not the victims
