What Christian and Catholic cults? Catholics are Christians. Protestants are Christians.

Catholics were the only Christians until 1054 and then there was a schism and that's why we have Greek and Russian Orthodox churches. They are very very close to Catholic in liturgy and belief. The only real diff is they are not under the pope in the Vatican. They have a diff hierarchy.

There was no such thin as a Protestant until Luther. He at first wanted to reform the Catholic Church then eventually broke off and then there was Henry VIII, John Wesley, John Calvin and others creating their own idea of what a Christian church should be like and it now there are hundreds with thousands of their own splinter groups.

Protestant comes from "protest" -- they were protesting certain Catholic practices and in those days there really was enormous corruption.

Today the crazy sects are usually always spin off independent loonies on the Protestant side of Christianity. The Catholic Church (Vatican) has strict control over Catholic Churches. Rogues get kicked out.

Most people are actually very uninformed and so they are easily swayed by a smooth talking bull shit artist like the guy on the video.

I have difficulty with the notion that the Catholic church is not a cult. As well the infallibility rationale when it comes to popes and the reality of the number who were child rapists OK with raping their own children, the number of popes and church hierarchy affected by syphilis. The protection of paedophiles by the pope and the Vatican. The reality that a large % of clergy are sexually active with a % quite willing to use their position of authority to obtain sexual services from members of their congregations and the number of homosexual clerics. and that influence across the spectrum of the church, the number of bishops and cardinals who have been found guilty or shown to be guilty of covering up the rape of children and protecting the rapists. The misinformation put across from the pulpit as to the veracity of the claims of tens of thousands as children of clergy. The extrapolated numbers when looking at investigations re the sexual abuses against women and children and the constant abuses in seminaries indicates that many millions are alive today who are the victims of rape by their clergy. The ongoing cover-ups and obstruction of and perversion of justice for uncountable numbers of male children raped and denied justice are issues of concern. That the ignorance of neuro and other branches of science show that a multitude of claims are simply implausible, unverifiable or simply false. The more than 200 apologies by the Vatican for genocide, rape, paedophilia, drug and financial criminal actions, human trafficking, human rights abuses and more are also serious issues that no explanations yet can bring the system into a state of reputable let alone believable. Nor does this bring increased trust - in fact the opposite is the loss of millions who have been born into a world of corruption and indoctrination. These matters do not need tomes of complex reasoning to avoid the reality that a pope digging up the body of a rival to pass judgement is an insane act. Necrophilia, paedophilia Filicide, genocide are all overlooked and excused on unfounded claims of a supernatural nature.

Today the world is informed daily as to criminal acts of clergy and the criminal acts of catholic laity that these disclosure do to the mental health and the persistent state of denial in the pews are serious matters of concern. The reality that the Christian god is a mute enabler of sex crimes and looks away when the biological necessity to safeguard progeny is overlooked in the zeal of protecting a broken institution. There is no god worth a second chance when they remain silent and inactive in the face of wholesale rape, genocide, fraud, and deception of millions of indoctrinated and duped victims.

I was raised and educated Catholic. I am the very well educated, very compassionate, socially active woman I am today in large port of that fact.

I received an outstanding grade school and HS education from nuns who are internationally recognized as superior educators. One order, the Benedictines, have been teaching since 600 AD. They founded schools, colleges, and hospitals. I know nuns who marched with Dr. King against racial injustice in Chicago. I know nuns who work with women who have been sexually trafficked. I know some of the leading social activists in the country and they are nuns.

I graduated from an internationally recognized Jesuit university. It has superior law and medical schools. It has superior graduate programs in education, social work, history, philosophy and psychology. There are 24 Jesuit universities in America and represent the greatest names in academic freedom and research. Like Fordham, Georgetown, and Loyola Chicago (my alma marer).

I've known priests who fought against fascists in Argentina. Who fought against the cartels. Who are doctors and lawyers. Who are surgeons working with Doctors Without Borders. Very fine people.

You have parroted a lot of the universal anti-Catholic hate that has been promulgated by hateful, ignorant people for a long time. They do not understand how the church really operates or what it represents. Or it's 2000 year complex history.

I am now an ordained interfaith minister who hasn't been a practicing Catholic in decades. But you know what? My most supportive friends are many nuns and priests.

Are there pedophiles? Sure. Have these sins been always handled correctly? No. But it's like any other group of hundreds of thousands. There are always very bad people. It's the same in all other churches. In jaw. In medicine. In education.
