The inability of a child to thrive in a Constitutionally protected God based perpetual threat and rape culture is not a fault of the child; however it does become their odious responsibility upon reaching adulthood to resolve the harms done to them. The Christian religion at its core is a toxic mechanism whereby intergenerational trauma is kept alive, active, and deeply embedded in each new generation, as it has done over the past 2,000+ years.

0.1% were Praying / worshipping / meditating
In the following I want to expand on the numbers pertaining to the 0.1% who were Praying, worshipping, or meditating.
I want to examine what portions of that 0.1% were engaged in Praying, worshipping, or meditating.
I want to test the veracity of the claim made by a) In the case of Catholics who claim they would pray for me and others and for the many things the world urgently needs such as global peace, feeding the starving and saving souls. b) the president and others when they make the statement of keeping someone in their thoughts and prayers to determine just how true that statement might be.
Extend this into diligent examination of the veracity of such claims. Determine how many were meditating, or worshipping and in the case of Catholic clergy how many might be engaging in the rape of vulnerable women or accessible children.
science.org A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind
The 2010 Science paper "A Wandering Mind Is an Unhappy Mind" by Killingsworth and Gilbert analyzed mind-wandering and happiness using an iPhone app that randomly sampled participants' activities, thoughts, and feelings. The study involved 2,250 U.S. adults (aged 18-88, mean age 34) who provided approximately 250,000 total samples. Participants selected from 22 predefined activity categories, one of which was "praying/worshipping/meditating" (grouped as a single category without sub-breakdowns in the main paper or supplemental materials).
To estimate portions within this 0.1%, we can extrapolate from broader U.S. population surveys on prayer, worship, and meditation frequency (since the study's sample was demographically representative of U.S. adults). These are approximations, as direct time-use data for sub-activities is sparse:
Sub-Activity | Estimated Portion of the 0.1% | Basis for Estimate |
---|---|---|
Praying | ~60-70% | Prayer is the most common religious practice in the U.S.; 44% of adults pray daily, far outpacing worship or meditation. Time-use surveys (e.g., American Time Use Survey) allocate most "religious/spiritual" time to personal prayer. |
Worshipping (e.g., attending services or communal rituals) | ~20-30% | Worship is often scheduled (e.g., weekly services), comprising less daily time. Pew data shows 23% attend religious services weekly, but random sampling captures it less frequently than solitary prayer. |
Meditating (secular or spiritual) | ~5-15% | Meditation is less prevalent; 38% of adults meditate a few times a month, but only ~10-20% do so daily. It's often secular, reducing overlap with religious categories. |
These estimates assume the 0.1% mirrors national trends, where religious practices (prayer/worship) dominate over secular meditation. Absolute samples: Praying (~150-175), worshipping (~50-75), meditating (~12-37). However, this is not definitive, as the study did not distinguish spiritual vs. secular meditation.
The study's finding that only 0.1% of time is spent on praying/worshipping/meditating underscores a gap between claimed intentions and actual behavior. U.S. adults spend an average of 1.8-2.4 minutes per day on "personal worship" (including prayer/meditation), per the American Time Use Survey (2003-2023 data). This equates to ~0.1-0.17% of a 24-hour day, aligning with the paper. Below, I examine the specific claims using survey data and critiques.
Catholics often emphasize prayer as a core practice (e.g., intercessory prayer for global issues), but data suggests these claims are overstated in frequency and duration:
This phrase is common in public responses to tragedies (e.g., shootings, disasters), but it's widely criticized as a platitude substituting for policy action:
Extending beyond the study, claims of frequent prayer/worship/meditation are undermined by low time allocation (0.1-0.17% daily). Meditation/worship portions are smaller than prayer (as estimated above), with meditation often secular (e.g., mindfulness apps) and worship episodic (e.g., 23% weekly attendance).
For Catholic clergy specifically:
In summary, the 0.1% highlights rarity, and claims often exceed reality—substantiated by time-use data showing minimal engagement. For closed-ended math: To calculate daily minutes from 0.1%: (0.001 × 1,440 minutes/day) = 1.44 minutes. Step-by-step: Percentage as decimal (0.1% = 0.001), multiply by total minutes in a day (24 × 60 = 1,440), result is average time spent. Adjust for waking hours (~960 minutes) for ~1 minute.

2023 Findings in Spain found that 0.6% of the population of Spain had been sexually abused by Roman Catholic priests and laity. Up to 50 million alive on any day who have been raped or abused by Catholic clergy &/or Catholic laity
Current world population is 8 billion - 0.6% = 48 million alive today who are likely to have been raped by Catholics globally.
The church protected the perpetrators, not the victims
"This is a matter for the church and I respect the internal judgements of the church. I don't stand outside the church and provide them with public lectures in terms of how they should behave. I've noted carefully what his Holiness has said in the United States. Obviously that was a source of great comfort and healing in the United States. I'm like all Australians very much looking forward to what the Pope has to say here in Australia as well, as I am to my own conversation with the Pope later this morning."
