The inability of a child to thrive in a Constitutionally protected God based perpetual threat and rape culture is not a fault of the child; however it does become their odious responsibility upon reaching adulthood. The Christian religion at it's core is a toxic mechanism whereby intergenerational trauma has been kept alive, active and deeply embedded in each new generation over the past 2,000+ years.
Religious Compartmentalization Syndrome: A Call for Insight and Understanding - from the 2009 review
Exploring the Psychological Impact of Global Clergy Abuse
[Seeking Contributions for Research]
The concept of compartmentalization is not new to psychology. It is a defense mechanism we employ to mentally separate conflicting thoughts, emotions, or experiences to protect our sense of self. This process becomes almost reflexive, a sort of psychological automation, as described by classical conditioning (Pavlov).
In the context of religious environments, particularly those scarred by abuse scandals, this compartmentalization can become a cultural phenomenon. Children raised in such environments, like those affected by the global clergy abuse crisis, often learn to compartmentalize to survive. This can lead to what we term "Religious Compartmentalization Syndrome" (RCS).
RCS can manifest in various ways, from victims who have no recollection of abuse to those who paradoxically recall their abusive environments as positive. The syndrome can extend to religious leaders and educators, affecting their ability to process and address the abuse accurately.
The challenge in quantifying RCS lies in the lack of transparent data. Religious institutions, notably the Catholic Church, have historically controlled the narrative, making it difficult to grasp the full scope of the issue. This lack of data also hinders the profiling of potential criminal activity within these institutions.
The cycle of RCS can be summarized in several steps:
Problem identification (e.g., abusive priests)
Resolution to act (mobilizing resources)
Identify outcome goal (justice for the crimes)
Required actions (approved activities)
Actions taken (coordinated efforts)
Outcome achieved (perceived justice)
Celebration (ritualistic closure)
However, this cycle often leads to a re-shock and re-compartmentalization when the issue resurfaces, sending the individual back to step one.
Victims of RCS often feel they are slipping through the cracks of society, especially when their path to healing is hindered by others' compartmentalization. This is particularly prevalent in policing and healthcare, where recidivism rates for RCS behaviors can be alarmingly high.
Survivors suggest that overcoming RCS requires re-engaging with basic parental instincts and human rights. A focus on shared humanity and collective healing can redirect the fight from an individual to a societal level, fostering a more holistic approach to recovery.
For a deeper understanding of RCS and its societal implications, further research and collaboration are necessary. We invite researchers, survivors, and anyone with relevant experiences or data to contribute to this important work.

Recent findings in Spain found that 0.6% of the population of Spain had been sexually abused by Roman Catholic priests and laity.
Current world population is 8 billion - 0.6% = 48 million possibly raped by Catholics globally.
"This is a matter for the church and I respect the internal judgements of the church. I don't stand outside the church and provide them with public lectures in terms of how they should behave. I've noted carefully what his Holiness has said in the United States. Obviously that was a source of great comfort and healing in the United States. I'm like all Australians very much looking forward to what the Pope has to say here in Australia as well, as I am to my own conversation with the Pope later this morning." Kevin Rudd, Prime Minister of Australia, 17 July 2008. more
